When I read “Pat Fish, best known for performing under the moniker The Jazz Butcher, has died aged 64”, my heart went quiet. I discovered him in high school and thought he was the coolest shit I’d ever encountered. I didn’t follow his career very closely after that initial thrill, but he felt like some kind of musical home, coming into my life at an age when I was just coming out of childhood and finding my own aesthetic footing.
